Guru's chamber was dimly lit, the only sound the soft whispers of incense carried on the breeze. Ravi, Leela, and Kavitha sat on the edges of cushions, their faces illuminated by the flickering candlelight. Rohan's absence was palpable, a weight that hung in the air like an unspoken threat.
"So, Kavitha, what does Guru's disappearance mean for our plan?" Leela asked, her brow furrowed in concern.
Kavitha's expression was unreadable. "It means we have less time than we thought. Ajeet's grip on the empire tightens by the day."
Ravi's gaze drifted to the small, intricately carved box on the shelf behind Kavitha. The box had once held Guru's most treasured possessions, including the divine weapons. "What about the box?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kavitha's hand fluttered to her chest, a gesture of instinctual protection. "The box is... secure, at the moment. But we need to be cautious. If Ajeet's men find it, we'll be giving him the keys to our kingdom."
Leela's eyes narrowed. "And what about Rohan? Does he still play a part in our plans?"
Ravi's lips curled into a bitter smile. "Rohan's allegiances are frayed, at best. He wants power, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to get it."
Kavitha's eyes locked onto Ravi's, her gaze piercing. "Be careful, Ravi. Rohan's game is far more complex than you think. He's being manipulated, just like the rest of us."
As the weight of their conversation settled, a sudden knock at the door shattered the silence. It was Aditya, Guru's loyal assistant, his face flushed with urgency.
"Guru's return is imminent, I've received word from one of his informants," Aditya announced, his voice barely steady.
Ravi's eyes met Leela's, a spark of hope flickering between them. "That's all we need. Now we can put our plan into action."
Kavitha rose to her feet, a small smile playing on her lips. "It's time to mend the bonds we've frayed. But beware, Ravi, the road ahead will be treacherous. We're about to walk into a web of deceit and betrayal, with no clear path to safety."
Leela's hand closed around Ravi's, her fingers intertwining with his. "We'll face it together, as a family," she said, her voice a steady reassurance.
Ravi's gaze flickered to the box on the shelf once more, the weight of their decisions settling heavy on his shoulders. He knew the road ahead would be fraught with danger, but he was ready. For the first time in weeks, he felt a glimmer of hope.
As the group waited for Guru's return, a soft knock at the door broke the silence once more. It was But, his face twisted into a mixture of concern and fear.
"Guru's here," But said, his voice barely above a whisper. "But... but he's not alone."
Ravi's heart sank, a chill coursing through his veins. "What do you mean?"
But took a deep breath before answering, his words spilling out in a rush. "Ajeet's men have caught up with him. They're here, in the gurukul. And... and they're not here to negotiate."
As the words hung in the air, the group's eyes met, the weight of their actions settling in like a shroud. The final confrontation was upon them, and nothing would ever be the same again.
