Ravi sprinted across the worn stone bridge, his feet pounding the ancient pavement in perfect sync with Leela's. They'd been running for what felt like hours, the sun dipping below the horizon as they careened through the city streets. Ajeet's men were closing in, their ragged cheers and shouts growing louder by the second. "Rohan, can you see them?" Leela yelled, her dark hair streaming behind her like a banner. Rohan, who'd been scouting ahead, dropped back to join them, his eyes scanning the rooftops and alleys. "They're right behind us, Leela. We need to lose them in the market." Ravi didn't need to be told twice. He veered sharply to the left, dodging a stall vendor who cursed as his makeshift display was sent crashing to the ground. Leela and Rohan followed close behind, the three of them weaving through the crowded market like a well-rehearsed dance troupe. For a few minutes, they managed to evade their pursuers, weaving through the labyrinthine alleys and side streets of Ayodhya's merchant district. But Ajeet's men were relentless, and eventually, they found themselves back on the main thoroughfare, surrounded by their enemies. "Take cover!" Leela shouted, flinging herself behind a nearby stall. Ravi and Rohan followed suit, returning fire with whatever they could find โ€“ a broken spear, a chunk of wood, a nearby water jug. But there were too many of them. Ajeet's men were everywhere, their numbers seemingly endless as they poured into the market like a dark, churning tide. Ravi's shots landed true, but there were too many targets, too much chaos. And then, just as it seemed like all was lost, Leela's group appeared out of nowhere โ€“ a dozen or so rough-looking men and women, their faces scarred and weathered from years of fighting. They'd been watching from the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. But as the two groups clashed, Ravi realized with a sinking feeling that something was off. The newcomers weren't as effective as they should be, their movements clumsy and uncoordinated. And Leela...Leela's eyes were narrowed, her face pinched with a mixture of worry and frustration. "Stop!" Ravi shouted, dodging a blow from one of Ajeet's men. "What's going on, Leela?" For a moment, she hesitated, her gaze darting frantically between Ravi and the newcomers. Then, with a jolt of anger, she spun on her heel and charged towards the market crowd, her blade flashing in the fading light. "No!" Ravi yelled, racing after her. "Leela, wait!" But it was too late. The newcomers had already formed a semi-circle around Ravi, their faces twisted with a mixture of malice and desperation. And in the center of that semi-circle, Leela stood tall, her eyes blazing with a fierce, almost feral light. "You're supposed to be our allies," Ravi growled, his anger simmering just below the surface. Leela's gaze met his, her eyes flashing with a warning. "We were never your allies, Ravi. We're just...tools. And our tools have been broken." Ravi's mouth dropped open as the truth hit him like a sledgehammer. These newcomers weren't here to help him โ€“ they were here to destroy him. And Leela...Leela had been playing him all along. With a snarl, Ravi launched himself at Leela, but it was too late. The newcomers had already begun to close in, their blades glinting in the dim light. And Leela...Leela stood still, her eyes never leaving Ravi's as she watched him fall.
